Default How long to oak this bier?

The quick version of the question is this;
How long should I let my beer sit on oak chips? These are 1 gallon batches sitting on 1 cup of liquor soaked chips.

Here's the setup!
Last night I bottled 3 gallons of a 5 gallon batch and put the other 2 gallons in 1 gallon secondarys on oak; 1 gal. with 1 cup bourbon (Makers Mark) soaked chips and the other 1 gal. on 1 cup scotch (Chivas Regal) soaked chips. At bottling I also did the following bottled 3 bottles (non-oaked) with 1/2 teaspoon scotch and bottled 3 bottles with 1/2 teaspoon bourbon.

My thinking goes something like this. I can do a presentation for my homebrew club on this Brown ale. We'll taste as follows:
1) Standard non flavored brown ale.
2) Scotch flavored brown ale.
3) Bourbon flavored brown ale.
4) Scotch oaked brown ale.
5) Bourbon oaked brown ale.

Schlante,
Phillip

That's a lot of chips for a gallon. I would say not very long. Grab a hydro sample after 5 days and see how the oak is. It should be slightly stronger than you want when you rack it off, since the oak flavor will fade with age.
