Default Gushers!

How do you undo gushers? I brewed a blueberry wheat beer and bottled a week ago. I opened one yesterday and it was a gusher. It was room temperature and had some carbonation to it. Do I just put it into the fridge and cool it down? Will that reduce the gushing?

The beer is still a bit green but man what a fantastic summer ale! Can't wait!

Yes, cooling them should help. I have noticed a big difference in some of my brews that are opened at warmer temps vs. cooled ones.

You could also open and re-cap once you've cooled them down; cooling it down should help prevent the gusher, and re-capping should release enough CO2 to bring it down to a normal carbonation level.

Gushing can also be caused by bacteria. If it were mine I'd grab one, pour off what beer there is that isn't foam and evaluate it just to be sure.

Hope it's just too much priming sugar or something.
