Default First 10g all grain yesterday (with pics)

so yesterday i did my first 10g batch. i have to say that it was i good amount of work but alot of fun. once i get my system where i want it, 10g will be much easier but for now i'll use what i have

heres the 2 mash buckets i used, both of them have mesh bags in them

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF11221.JPG

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF11241.JPG

got the first mash started

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF11211.JPG

doughing in the second mash

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1127.JPG

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1128.JPG

got a helper stirring my sparge water for the first mash

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1126.JPG

draining the first mash

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1135.JPG

total grain bill was 34.5 lbs
34 lbsbriess pale malt
.5 lb 60 caramel malt

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1162.JPG

getting the hops ready, i got tired of losing so much of my brew to whole hops in my boil so i bagged them up this time in cheese cloth

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF11441.JPG

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF11451.JPG

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1156.JPG

total hops for this brew was 4 oz
1 oz cascade pellets
3 oz willamette whole hops

1 oz cascade and 1 oz willamette at 60 min
2 oz willamette at 40 mins
1 oz willamette at 15 mins

i'm sure i spelled that wrong but oh well

starting the boil

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1153.JPG

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1176.JPG

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1198.JPG

every thing went pretty well, not too much boil over

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1269.JPG

adding some hops

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/gallery/data/1/medium/DSCF1281.JPG

and after that the camera went dead and couldn't find the charger

i used 2 packets of safale us-05 yeast, SG was 1.070. i'm not sure how much i collected after the boil and all, i haven't marked my 10 gallon fermenter yet but i think i got around 9 to 9 and a half gallons. we'll see how it turns out in about 2 weeks. i'll let it sit in the fermenter for 2 weeks and then transfer to kegs

i always say i'll post pics of brew day and now i have finally done it lol

thanks for taking the time to look

Lookin good, so i guess you batch sparge /w bottling buckets and grain bags...nice simple approach, i like it...I got a helper about the same age...lucky you, looks as if you get some work out of yours...mine just likes to mimic me stiring the mash and laughs...all good.

I can't wait to taste this brew, looks good, fermenting like crazy, I have about 3 inches of foam on the top of this one, good thing I have a 12 gallon fermenter or this would be all over the place.
