Extraxt substitution

Hi all.....I was wondering, if there was a recipe that I liked, but it was an extract recipe and wanted to brew it an an AG, how do I substitute the extract with the grain...is it a 1:1 basis? Thanks

Not usually. I have an efficiency in the 75% area, so I would sub 10 pounds pale malt for 6.4 pounds of DME or 7.5 pounds of liquid extract.

Generally speaking, one pound of basemalt is equal to .75 pounds of liquid malt extract, and about .65 pounds of dry extract, or to get you to the OG you want. You can keep the specialty malts the same.
