Default doh! To dry hop with pellets?

I must have spaced when I ordered, but I got Amarillo in pellet form. It's what I was planning for a dry hop, but I guess I mixxed up when I ordered it.

I do have about 2 ounces of my own home grown Cascades. Should I dry hop with the pellet, using the Amarillo called for in recipe, or go with the whole hops?

I don't think a little extra bitterness should make much of a change, since this is a RyePA and it's on the low-to-mid area of the range.

Why dont you want to dry hop with pellets? I have done it numerous times.

Dry-hopping won't add bitterness anyway. It will add flavor and aroma. I second cubbies' recommendation - dry-hop with the pellets. They work fine, and absorb less of your beer.

I can't get anything but pellets and I never have a problem dry-hopping. Go for it!

Pellets > whole hops for pretty much everything. Don't know why they make people skittish. 99% of professional brewers use them, why shouldn't you?

Odd, but I just never had dry hopped with pellets.
One of my text books (Brewing 2nd Ed, by Lewis and Young) says that pellets as dry-hopping will add some bitterness.

I'll give it a shot, though.

It's odd when you do (or don't do) something a certain way and just don't know why.

You may pull a pint or two from the keg that will have hop sediment, but after that you'll be all good!

I also dry hop with pellets very often. It's no problem at all. You do want to be a little more careful when racking, though.
