Hi All,

New member here as of today! Been lurking for months however :)

I would like to know how many days I should cold crash a hefeweizen before kegging. I am not looking for total clarity of the beer, but want as much as possible to drop out of the beer. Thanks for your help.

Hefes are supposed to be cloudy...the yeast gives it character. But, 2 days is standard with ales...i'd keep it cloudy...

With ales I'll so anywhere from 3 to 8 days at 38 and haven't had problems with bottling. Since your kegging, more will drop out while you're serving, so 2 days should be good

Kinda depends on where it was before you started cold crashing? Was it 1 week old and a yeasty mess...or three weeks old and relatively clear?

The length of time doesn't matter nearly as much as the temp. I usually bring mine down to about 31* for 2-3 days. Don't worry it won't freeze.

Ok, cool. That's exactly what I did----- 3 days at 31-33* then kegged it today.

Thanks for the advice !!
