Well today was a good day so far, brewed up a nice Belgian strong ale. Everything went nice an smooth, now with the spent grains my girlfriend is baking a few breads... Should be interesting. Never done this before so idk how it will turn out. Anyone ever bake a bread with their spent grains?

The hulls tend to get a little "chewy" for me since they dont break down much.
Granola bars are great to make with 100% barley grain bills but ill tend to take a pound or 2 out of a grain bill when it has 20-30% adjuncts (wheat, corn, rye, rice) to give it smoother texture if making breads or cookies.

Cheers! Nothing better than "free" stuff

Oh I know ive seen a bunch, im just saying this is all ive done.

Let us know how it turns out, i know im curious

Ohh gotcha! I'll def. let everyone know how it turns out! But, takes time! Like 8 hrs total of rising! Idk, my girl is baking it so I just say "ohh yea honey, that's good" an drink my coffee stout homebrew.... An watch the game.

They came out great! You can taste the grains,(doesn't taste like beer and is not malty). Not chewy at all.. Very happy..

I took spent grains and spread them out across 3 pans in the oven at 200F for about 7 hours to dry them out. I stirred them about once an hour. I then ground them up (a coffee grinder works great) and used some in place of some flour in a beer bread recipe. Turned out GREAT! All kinds of uses for beer eh? The rest I have stored in a canister for future use. I got about 6 cups of grain flour from 1 pound of grains.

Very nice! I wonder how it would taste using washed yeast from a previous brew.

I've made bread a couple of times, but I'm a terrible baker. A few loafs came out spectacularly and others just plain sucked.

Yea I'm no baker. But lucky for me one lives with me. All in all came out very well I def. recommend the recipe I posted earlier

3 c beer
3 tbs sugar
