I don't know if anyone else has done this but I'm planning a BIAB system (changed my mind from a traditional single tier 3 kettle design) with an electric RIMS to help me maintain my mash Temperatures. Has anyone done this? Is it dumb? Not afraid of ridicule or criticism, would just like some opinions. I will still be using a burner for boil, pretty much a clone of the RIMS for Dummies

If you are going to use a burner anyways, why not just automate the burner?

I really wanted to do that to be honest but I believe I can do it cheaper this way. I am still open to it and would perfer it but I'd need more help. even with gas control for dummies I have too many questions plus I cant find that LP orifice anywhere

I do BIAB exclusively & just use a gas burner. Haven't had trouble maintaining temps with a sleeping bag over the kettle & stirring/checking the temp every 15 mins during the mash. If you need more heat, light the burner & stir until you have the temp to where you want it. Temp holds fairly steady though....
