Default Ahhh!

OK, i'm doing an all-grain batch today. I don't have a grain mill so I order my stuff online crushed. The mash water was ready, dumped the grain from the bag into the water. After I went to check it the first time, I notice the grain seems to be 'heavier' than it usually is. Then I realize that it was not crushed.

So now I have 10+ pounds of uncrushed grain soaking in hot water. Iodine test shows no sugars.

What can I do to save it ? Or can I?

Thanks,
Matt

pull it back out, crush it with a rolling pin and start over?

I don't think a rolling pin is going to crush wet grains.

Perhaps you could put them in a food processor? Maybe that would grind them up a bit.

Chances are you're hosed. I'd be calling the online brew shop and chewing some ass. They owe you a new batch of grains and a brew day.
