While I usually send people to tastybrew for free brewing calcs their efficiency calculates on post boil numbers, and not brewhouse efficiency.
"brewhouse efficiency" is the total efficiency of your brewhouse; its the amount of beer you should have been able to make (given amount of grain used, and assuming 100% extraction were possible), minus any and all waste, any beer left in the lines, spilled durring transfer, left in the carboy, trub at the bottom of the kettle, etc.

pre/post-boil, or mash, efficiency is different. it is only the [total amount of sugars in the grain] - [amount of sugars you were able to extract]. it does not incorperate transportation losses, fermentation losses, spillage, or anything else.

that calculator is incorrectly labled "brewhouse efficiency". its actually just mash efficiency.

Thanks for pointing that out Audger. good catch! I have that in my notes somewhere and have x number I use for my system for loss. I usually use brewers friend cal with the tastybrew calculator and both are mis-labled too so they work well together. Again Good call!
