My last batch was %62 mash efficiency and I had been hovering in the 60's so it was time for change.
I use a bazooka screen in a 48qt Igloo Ice Cube. It sat way up in the cooler leaving a gallon or 2 when drained, so I pulled it apart, put a 90 degree elbow inside of the bazooka tube reaching the bottom of the cooler in a little drain pocket.
I checked the gap on my 2 roller mill. Not bad though each side was different. I brought it in to a very tight .038" on both sides.
I had to change my sparge method because I was doing a double batch for the first time and didn't have enough vessels to accomodate, so I used a hybrid batch sparge quick drain, and then fly sparged the 2nd part.
Today's batch was at least %90 and possibly as high as %95 depending on where 14 gallon mark is in a keggle.
