Default 2nd AG brewday and 1st AG taste!

So, I'm on vacation this week, so I decided that I needed to brew my second AG. I brewed up Biermuncher's Black Pearl Porter. My effeciency sucked, but I'm not too worried about that. Only one hiccup today. The inlet hose on my immursion chiller was loose and was spraying some water right into the pot. I didn't notice this until 10 or 15 minutes into the chilling. Hopefully this won't hurt things. Again, not too worried.

The second big thing today was tasting my first AG. This was, of course, EdWort's Haus Pale Ale. What a wonderful beer. It had a pronounced hop taste, but it wasn't too bitter. Too bad that I brewed this with 2 buddies, so I have to split the batch with them. This batch is going to go quick!

This is one of the things I am freaked out about because the connections where the plastic hose meets the copper are not that good, so I stay around to watch over it.

Oh yeah, and I heard it was a good idea to drop the chiller in the boiling wort to sanitize it before cooling down. Well I did that and well, lost a couple of fee of plactic tubing due to the flame somehow getting to it from under the pot. Oh well as stated above, I should replace them anyways.

You can get a flaring kit at your local auto parts store and all of the attachments to put brass flare fittings on your copper tubing. If you do this then you can use garden hoses attached directly to the copper chiller.

I made my own 50' chiller and I flared the copper tubing to install all of the fittings for garden hoses. I also have an attachment for the kitchen sink.
