Default 10 Gallon AG in a 36 qt Coleman Extreme?

I have a plan...for making 20 gallons instead of 10 during my next brew day, but it involves mashing for a 10 gallon batch in a coleman extreme 36 qt cooler. Has anyone tried this? I have just about maxed out the cooler capacity before on BIG 5 gallon batches, but I have never attempted a 10 gallon batch. I am thinking of something with an OG of 1.045 to 1.050. Can it be done? I am kicking myself for selling my 70 quart with manifold the spring.

Wables,

Sure it can be done, either by fly sparging or multiple batch sparges. The calculator linked below will tell you how much grain will fit into a 36 qt or 9 gal cooler. I tried 20 lbs of grain @ 1qt / lb is 6.6 gal. That should leave room for some sparge water if you are willing to batch sparge 3-4 times. Ideal...no, possible...definately!
