Cheers!
The holiday 7 will fit 4, but it's TIGHT! You really have to press the 4th one in there, and pry it back out.

See here:

With 3 cornys, your tank will fit in the 7cu Holiday.
4 cornys leaves room for a 5# tank on the hump, and that's it...

Default Kenmore Model 253.11511101

Not sure of the size... guessing around 5 c.u. Will fit 4 ball lock cornies with a nine inch collar. The two in the lower section are tight.

How does running the gas tank outside of the freezer work? I assume you are not drilling through the freezer wall, but the wooden extension? Is it just a hole in the wood through which the hose goes through? Any sealant on it?

First off, this is a great thread! I'm getting ready to build my kegerator and i'm trying to get 1/4 or 1/2 bbl + 2 corny's and 5lb co2 inside. I will build a collar so no issues with a the freezer having a hump. I saw this one at Sears: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_04616922000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&block Type=

However, i just went to measure the inside and here are the specs: 16.5 inches deep, 24.5 inches wide to the hump w/a 10 inch hump. 1/4bbls and 1/2bbls are 16 1/8 - Is this going to be too tight of a fit?

I have a 20# gas tank, so I keep it outside as it takes up a fair amount of space. I lined my wood extension with foam, ran my lines and them filled in the joints and holes with that insulating foam in a can. I think the brand I used was "Great Stuff"?

Default How to use chest freezer and for sodas?

Hi,

I just ordered this kind of a system for making carbonated water on my own. I want to get a fridge/freezer for it. Wasn't sure what size for the Corny Keg, I just got 1 for now with a 5lb co2 tank.

Why do you guys use the freezers and not refrigerators? What temperature do you set the freezers at? Do you leave them running all the time, or just before carbonating?

Does anyone have experience with just carbonating water who could give me some instructions?

Thanks.

We convert freezers because they are more suited to "Horizontal storage" In other words, a fridge is designed to have "stuff" stacked on shelves. We don't want to stack kegs. You have to build a platform in a fridge to utilize the floor space ruined by the compressor hump, too.
That said, lots of guys use fridges.
Typically, a keezer will hold between 4 and 12 corny kegs! I've never met a fridge that will hold 12 cornys...

Not sure about the temps for carbonating water but for beer, I set mine to 36 or so to force carbonate. Google the following search for possible assistance:

carbonating water site:http://www.homebrewtalk.com

If you go the freezer route you'll need to get either a Analog or Digital controller to control the freezer temps and prevent freezing. Set the freezer control to it's coldest setting and the controller will maintain the temp for you. The two I linked are for reference only - shop around for better prices.

Welcome to HBT and good luck!

New here how do you control the temp in a drop in freezer? My sister has one but she aint using it now so I might take it off her hands till she needs it.

Edit: Well it looks like my question was answered in the post before mine. Sorry! Should have read the entire post.
