Default Sanke 1/6 keg, kegerator, fermenting

Ok, first attempt at kegging
My questions:
1. I just built a kegerator out of an old Sanyo mini fridge. I am getting ready to keg my first batch. What is the best way to test my set up before I rack into keg. How can I carbonate keg without hooking up to the faucet? What would I need to connect to my keg coupler?

2. I was given 2 sanke 1/6 (sixstle?) how do you ferment in a keg? Just rack into keg pitch yeast and close up? How messy is this to clean the keg?
