Default Question about a 5 gallon corny..

I know that a corny is 5 gallons. Is it 5 gallons from the very top? I was racking a keg from carboy. The carboy was full and when I racked to the keg it wasn't full to the top. Usually, I rack to a keg from a 6.5 gallon bucket and have 5 1/2 gallons so I can fill to the top.

I have always assumed that it was 5 gal when filled. An easy way to find out would be to take a gallon jug and throw 5 of those of water in there and see what's what

I think 5 gallons comes to where the rubber meets the steel. It is several inches below the short dip tube when it has 5 gallons in it.

Mine vary slightly, but 5 gallons is always below the IN diptube.
