Default keg coupler check valve

I'm ordering a taprite coupler. I noticed that they sell an extra little check valve that goes on the beer side. I didn't even know there was a check valve that went in the couplers. I have no idea if any of my others have them.

Is this needed if my gas distribution manifold already has check valves built in?

It's so that the beer doesn't drain out of your line and go everywhere when you disconnect the coupler. on the ones I have, It's just a ball inside the probe that covers the hole when flow tries to go backward.
