Does anyone know if IBC rootbeer bottles are ok for recapping for homebrew? I saw a bunch of em at Sam's the other day for cheap.

They'll be fine if they're pop tops. I think IBC bottles are twist off though.

I looked at a photo of them on wikipedia, and it looks like they may be difficult to cap unless you have a benchcapper. There's no underside lip for a wing capper to grab onto to pull the cap down onto the bottle. I can't tell if they're twistoffs, though.
