I sold mag drive pumps to a company that cleaned and refilled gas cannisters. The chemicals they use are so aggressive they would eat up pumps for lunch. By dinner they needed a new pump. Just a great account.

But to think somehow that contamination won't get into "my" welding tank CO2 tank is a bit naive.

Yet another reason to "suffer" through the trauma of having to clean and refill beer bottles.

I own multiple aluminum tanks and one steel tank and only permit refilling no exchanges.
A coworker a few years ago took the steel tank for refilling and came back with an exchanged steel tank which gave me problems. Very small particles came out of the tank. Now all my tanks have filters and after a few years don't look great.
I have know idea how clean my own tanks left the factory.

Corrosion can and will happen inside tanks.
Never leave an empty tank open for moisture to enter.
My tanks are filled by Airgas directly.

Look closely at the old picture and you see how the filters look after around 2 years of service with alot of CO2 use.

Well, it's the gas. I put 3-4 gallons of distilled water on gas yesterday and just tried some. It already is developing that taste.

Hopefully it wasn't something too bad and I don't start growing a 3rd arm in a couple years.

Well, I guess I'm going to brew next weekend so that I can maybe have some OctoberFast this year.
