Default Force Carbonating 2L Bottles

Hello Brewers,

I'm thinking about brewing some root beer and ginger ale later on this week, and have been looking around the internet for different methods of carbonating 2L bottles. While I could use yeast, it looks to be more trouble than not.

So, I had an idea.

I saw in one forum that people were force carbonating their sodas using a modified bottle cap which has a bike tire stem coming up out of it. Now, I do not keg my beers yet, and I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars to carbonate (maybe one day), and so it seemed like force carbonating was out of the question.

But, have any of you experimented with those new CO2 tire inflation cartridges and force carbonation. I can't see it working with large quantities, but do you think it might work with 2-liter bottles? How would that work?

Andy
