Default Does extraxt take as to age in kegs compared to bottles?

I have used extract before but in bottles and not in a keg. I have found that the flavor of the extract becomes less syrupy tasting with age. About three weeks in a bottle, as long as it takes to carb. I brewed up a beer that called for peach extract and kegged it yesterday and it had an extremely overpowering syrup taste. Will the taste mellow out after the beer is done carbing or does it have to age about 3 weeks?

It will taste much smoother if you let it condition a week or two compared to how it tastes right after you add the extract.

Also, keep in mind that some extracts just don't work very well. A buddy of mine made a clone of Magic Hat #9 a while back, and even after a year, the apricot extract still tasted like strong cough syrup.


Sometimes it's just hit or miss.

If keg = COLD then not much conditioning will go on.

I would store warm for 3-4 weeks and then into the Keezer (or whatever)
