Hello

I am starting my first experiment in kegging this weekend. I have everything needed except the CO2.

A friend of mine started kegging about 5 years ago and decided he did not like the "taste" that forced CO2 added to the Beer. Not sure kind of taste that is but that is ok.

Any ways, he has offered his CO2 for my experiment. Can CO2 go bad? I understand that O2 can, so I thought I would check. Thank you.

go bad??? what does that mean?

Neither CO2 nor O2 can "go bad". They are just gasses.

Not sure what it means. I heard that a tank of O2 can "go bad". If they can not, then thats great.

Nope-- there's no 'go bad'. You are okay.

Don't worry about the taste. If you age the beer properly, it'll taste fine.

Besides, CO2 is CO2, whether it comes from natural priming or from a tank. It there was any off tastes, it didn't come from the CO2 in the bottle.

Perhaps it was the hoses used in his setup, but I never had a bad tank of CO2

it can be contaminated (the CO2) but the gas itself can't go bad
