im about to bottle my ipa, and was looking at the beer recipator and it tells me to put 7.87 oz of dextrose for a 5.5 gallon batch to prime the beer, is that to much, will i end up with bottle bombs?

ooops, i just noticed that i had entered too high of a co2 volume. now its at 5 oz.

That really does sound like a bit too much to me. Usually it's about 4-5oz for a 5 gallon batch for typical carbonation levels, so I don't think that extra 0.5 gallons should call for nearly 3 more ounces (57% more) of dextrose.
