Ok, I am extremely paranoid about by beer not being carbonated enough. I would hate to give out a few of my brews to friends and have little life to it...
having said that.. Is 5 oz. of corn sugar REALLY enough to get great carbonation, or is it more like 6-6.5oz??? any thoughts?
I measure by volume - 3/4 cup has always been perfect. Personally, I think it's better for the beer to be a touch flat than to have a guyser, but in any case, 3/4 cup works perfect, in my experience.
