I'm looking at getting the Brew Logic Single Tap Draft System from Midwest Supplies.

It comes with a hand held picnic tap. Could I just put the system in the fridge and when I want a brew, open the door and use the picnic tap? Is there any other reason besides looks and convenience to route it out the door? Would I have to worry more about beer spoilage?

Just wondering. It'll save me some money and the wife will be happy about that!

You'll use more electricity that way since when you open the door all the cold will fall out of the fridge. Beyond that... it's just aesthetics and convenience after that. If you use a chest freezer, the cold doesn't fall out when you open it.

I've never seen someone route picnic taps through the door. The typically route the faucets through the door because there isn't really anything to mount them to inside the fridge

Unless it is the world's slowest pour, I'm pretty sure I waste more cold and energy just deciding what to have for lunch.

Yes they are...but they pour well, cheap as dirt, easy to clean / replace, stay cleaner as they stay cold. Lots of plusses for bush league. I have em on my basement keezer, they work so well I haven't bothered to upgrade. Myabe I'm bush league.

I have a kezzer and a conditioning cabinet. Since the cabinet is "cellar" temperatures, I use party taps on the cornies of REAL ales there. The kezzer has taps, now and I put the soda water and beers that taste best cold in it. Sometimes I'll route a beer from the conditioning cabinet to the kezzer, although it can be a bit of a problem for low CO2 volume ales, as the lines are 12' of 3/16ths.



In your case, I'd keep the party tap inside the fridge.

go for it, if you want to upgrade later all you will need is a faucet/shank and some line.
