I have just bottled a coffee stout and had a question about the length of time bottling at room temperature then in fridge.. I just finished an ipa that I bottle conditioned for 2 weeks, put in the fridge for 2 days and drank.. Does a stout take longer? Which part conditioning or in the fridge, I ve heard that leaving a stout in the fridge for a bit will make it smoother??

If the OG was under 1.080 but over 1.040 - 6 weeks, if over 1.080 - 8 weeks in the bottle...at room temp. Then you can move to fridge. Stouts and porters as well as other dark beers tend to get better with age, so the longer you can hold off the better! Ive heard of people even leaving it in the carboy for 1-2 months AFTER final gravity was reached to age it somewhat.
