I recently picked up a BM23 which seems to run well, it gets cold very quickly but I have a couple issues with the door closing properly which I'd like straighten out before I put it to use. It looks like I'm missing some hardware on the door hinges and hopefully someone can help me out.
since pictures are worth a thousand words, I'll save myself some typing by posting these: (I hope this works)
I only have one bushing and it looks broken, I tried making one for the top (first pic) but it doesn't quite fit. They are only a few bucks online so I plan on ordering a couple. Part #00A30-110A
I also only have one metal sleeve with the threads on the inside. My question is do I need one on the top and bottom hinge? With the screw inserted all the way in it doesn't look like it fits correctly, obviously something is wrong here (middle picture). Looking at pictures of the replacement hinge (part #13B01-005A) it looks like the sleeve comes with a new hinge which costs over $65!
So can someone steer me towards what I need to do/buy to make this work right? The parts diagram is available online but is vague when it comes to the hinges.
Yes, you need a sleeve inside the bushings, not the bushing riding on the bolt threads.
Post up a link, to the parts breakdown, and we'll see if anyone can help ya' figger' it out.
You could also measure what parts you have, ( I.D., O.D., length, etc...), and look on McMaster-Carr , and see what you find.....
I also think I have it threaded wrong in the second picture, the screw should enter the metal sleeve from the flat flange side (fool's disclaimer here: after buying this I took it home and in a fit of glee took the door off without studying how the hardware went back together so I could give it a good scrubin')
I'm pretty sure I need another "sleeve" for the top hinge (picture #1) to face downward. I'm hoping maybe I can find it on the site you linked to. It looks like it comes with a replacement hinge on this site: http://www.partstown.com/beverage_air/bev13b01-005a
I've found it $20 cheaper on another site but they had no picture and I only got a price thru an online chat with a salesperson.
I would be most appreciative if someone could post pictures of their hinges so I can see how they go.
You saved me quite a bit of trouble, I was considering driving 40 miles to look at one listed on Craig's List just to see how the hinges and hardware went together.
Obviously I threaded the screw into the wrong end of the metal sleeve (I think this is called a "standoff".
Now I need to find a replacement. I looked on the McMaster-Carr site and others but so far I havent found one with a flanged end. I'll probably order a replacement hinge just to get the right size standoff and be done with it. I need to order the bushings and also a key anyhow.
