How often do you really do it?
I just did mine for the first time in six months. Granted, this may be a bit too long between cleanings, but two weeks (which I've seen mentioned) seems insane. After every other keg, which is about equivalent to after every commercial keg, seems ok to me. For me that's only every three months or less on my two tap kegerator.
