Default Beer hose length

My neighbor is setting up a draft tower on his bar, but the fridge is several feet away from the tower. The hoses he got are the standard 5 foot 3/16 in. I know that's the ideal length, but what does one do if one needs longer hoses?

I tried to talk him out of this, he's making it more complicated than it needs to be, but that's what he wanted.

Doesn't the diameter have to change, and then there's a new proper length?

See http://www.iancrockett.com/brewing/info/kegbalance.shtml . It looks like if you need longer lines, then they will need to be bigger ID, like 1/4" instead of 3/16" standard. Bigger hose means less resistance!

That breaks it down to a formula that would seem handy for you.

Thanks. I finally found it at Micromatic. They say 12' of 1/4" ID hose.

Are the lines going to be outside of a refridgerated cooler? If so, they must be kept chilled somehow.

I know, they're running through a 4" insulated duct. I'm trying to get him to force cold air into the duct, but he won't until he has a issue.
