I'm building a randall, am I correct in thinking that I can adapt this fitting to my filter housing and then screw on ball lock posts from a keg? My goal is to have ball lock disconnects on the randall so I can just plug it inline between a keg and my taps. I think thats what this fitting does.

Yes this would work provided that your randall has the right matching 1/4 FPT fitting.
