it's perfectly fine. it's a fermentation ring. the beer ferments and leaves a ring where it was.
Probably just krausen residue. If it doesn't smell bad or taste bad it is probably good.

it's yeast! you should count the number of cells and thank them each personally for a job well done

I would just leave it where it's at, there's plenty of yeasties in the cider to finish the job.
