Really, a cider is pretty much cider... some are dry Vs. sweet, and some are sparkling Vs. still, but that's all a matter of small differences in the recipe. Try some different recipes, and figure out what you like.
If you like the dry ciders from UK, I would recommend trying EdWort's Apfelwein recipe... my mother tried some and loved it, she said it tasted exactly like what she drank in Ireland...
