Default Spiced Cider

Hey guys, I need a bit of advice on spicing , should I boil the spices (I'm thinking Cinnamon and cloves) in some Apple juice first and add this when cooled, or just chuck them in raw?
Any help would be appreiciated

I just put them in the primary. Allspice is a good addition. Use about a tablespoonful of spices per gallon.

Thanks David, I will be trying this in a couple of weeks, I'm looking at making a heap for this year's Christmas Pressies.

One of the big problems with spiced ciders is they need some residual sweetness, otherwise the spices get lost.

I'm thinking about doing my next batch spiced--i'd love to hear how it turns out--I also want to try orange peels, does anyone know if they should be zested or not--added to primary, boiled with other spices, or added to secondary...

any help would be great
