Default Rhino Farts Solved For $0.75

I just finished up fermenting a batch of cider that is particularly stinky during fermentation. This usually results in complaints from management that something died in my cider.

This time I decided to add a respirator filter to the top of the airlock. I picked up a two pack of the AO Safety filter refils from Home Depot for $1.49.

The packaging said they were rated for organic vapors so I figured why not. Rhino farts are organic, right? For the price the worst thing that could happen is that I'm out $1.49 if they didn't work. I taped the filter onto the top of the airlock with some clear packing tape and hoped for the best. Well the fermentation has completed and I never smelled anything Rhino related. The only bad part is I never smelled the nice apple aromas either. Not a single complaint from management so I deem it a success!

1) Interesting concept. I like the out of the box thinking.
2) You ferment at WORK? Or by "management" are you referring to SWMBO?

3) See sig for MD brewday.

Haha, neither. Management as in my roommate. I'll get complaints about the smells from time to time, but no complaints when there is cold beer on tap!

I'll have to keep the Brew Day in mind. I'll try to make it. This is like any of my other hobbies, about to the point where it could get dangerous. I'm not sure this "meeting" will help that any. I do want to move up to all grain. Hopefully somebody will be cooking some up.

Drink homebrewed beer. After a few weeks of that, Rhino farts will actually be a positive aroma.

We're always cooking up 3-5 batches of All Grain, so there's plenty of learnin to go around. At least you're learn how NOT to do All Grain.
