Default Plastic Vs. Glass

what are the differences between brewing in a plastic bucket vs a glass carboy. i am using plastic as my primary and glass as the secondary. would i see a major difference if i went all glass, or all plastic?

on the topic of plastic, could i use a black bucket to block out the light so i wouldn't have to banish it to the closet (which i think is a bit colder than the kitchen.)

Plastic can scratch, making it a tad harder to clean which could lead to infection...
