Default One gallon cider

Have a gallon of unopened cider in my fridge, an empty jug, stopper, and an airlock just sitting unused. I was thinking of make a small batch. How much head space should I leave?

Lalvin D-47 is supposed to be low foaming. If you are transferring this into a glass 1 gallon jug, I believe it will fill to where it says "ONE GALLON" on the side (about 4" from the top) of the glass. That should be adequate head space, but you may want to let the jug sit in a foil pan for the first week, just in case.
