Default My first cider

I just started my first cider today, I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I used: 5 gal Martinelli's Gold Medal Apple Juice
approx. 2lbs Brown sugar
1 box mulling spices
1 can great value apple juice concentrate
1 slap pack of wyeast 4766 (started it in a mason jar for 24 hrs)
5 tsp yeast nutrient

I got 1.065 OG when it was all said and done.

Interesting. I would have added the mulling spices in secondary fermentation, I think you might get more flavor from them, but that is just my opinion. Definitely keep us posted on your progress.

I checked the cider this morning and it was fermenting steadily with little foam, came back home for lunch and it was having a mild eruption. I probably should have used a blowoff hose.
