Mines been going strong for almost a week. Is this normal for cider. Also. Will pectic enzyme clear the cider If I heated the honey before mixing in?
Honey... I'm just going out for a like an hour. We are only going to drink one or two and head home... I promise ;).
What was your SG and what temp are you fermenting at? My Ciders always go much longer than beer. In addition it will take longer because of the honey. How much did you put in?
"Your HYDROMETER is the only BEST indicator of fermentation activity. Nothing else is accurate or consistent"...Revvy
Oh was 1.078. 700g honey. 36oz raw sugar. 16 oz brown sugar.
I have a plain cider right now that had a hurricane swirl on the top for about 3 weeks at 62ºF. It's calmed down now at 33 days. On the other hand I have a Graff that made a krausen ring...fell...and now has little or no activity after 10 days.
Mine went 4 weeks.
I swear honey takes longer to eat than the sugars do. Depends on the yeast also.
Who will try to ferment just about anything
"You guys just wanna get bombed and run around yelling yarr we're vikings!"
Most batches I have ferment at an average of 0.003/day.
