Default Dead yeast?

I started a 5 gallon batch of cider last night. When I pitched my liquid yeast last night I failed to read the date on the tube it's expiration date was Oct. 8 2011. I have used expired yeast before without any problems I just kicked start it with some honey and it all worked out fine. In this batch though I don't see any signs that fermentation is starting. Should I add more yeast or honey/sugar to it? Any advice would be great.

24 hours is not nearly enough time to get concerned. From my findings a slightly slower fermentation is desirable for cider, too hard and fast makes for a boring beverage. Once it gets going there's no stopping it.
