Default Cider bottling

I've seen a lot of people using bottles that the apple cider came in to bottle their hard cider. Why does this work? It seems like those caps wouldn't seal that great after opening.

Why would it not work? The only thing the "seal" does on normal bottle is let you know it hasn't been opened/tampered with. If you can tighten the lid well, it should be air tight, which is all that is required.

All assuming they were properly cleaned of course.
