Brewing in water butts
Anyone done this? I'm looking for a cost effective way of brewing this year's cider and thought this may be the way forward.

I don't know about this one... Those garden-type accessories are always accompanied with strange smells which might affect your cider. I'd also be worred about the acidity of the cider with whatever plastic they are using.

These are my concerns. In that case, can anyone recommend a cheap storage container to brew fairly large amounts?

I'm not sure, around here we have 32L food grade plastic carboys for 20 bucks.

I don't use them for brewing (Fish pond filters) But i got five 55gallon food safe barrels for free from a nearby coca cola plant. They are used to store flavoured syrup.

All I did to get these was call them and ask them nicely. I had to pick them up myself of course, but maybe there is a similar kind of place near you that might use these?
