They did, but you really don't notice them. It's more like you'd notice their absence rather than their presence; which was what I was going for. You could easily taste them in the unfermented wort. It finishes a bit sweet; IMHO, this turned out to be a sweet, sparkling malt cider, no pasteurization or force carbing required.
I know, it sounds like I'm claiming to have created the "mythical beast" & I suppose it all depends on your definition of "sweet," but it's sweet to my taste, and it's carbed, bottle conditioned 5 weeks & no bottle bombs. The FG was 1.010 & it didn't change in 18 months. A gentle pour creates almost no head, an aggressive pour will give you an inch of head, but it dissipates quickly, only lasts about a minute, but leaves some lacing.
