I don't know about champagne bottles, but I understand that twist-top wine bottles can be reused with corks.

There is a failure rate to consider though, as the thinner glass at the top will cause some mouths to crack.

Maybe the tougher glass of champagne bottles will eliminate this problem.

Cant help you on champagne screw off caps. I do know that normal American champagne or sparkling cider bottles can take a standard bottle cap. I have no experience with the screw on ones.
Martinelli's Sparkling Cider bottles work great. As do most American sparkling wines that come with the standard mushroom cork or the plastic version. Those will take a 26mm standard bottle cap if your capper will fit the bottle. Mine will do that just fine. I have the Red Baron Beer Bottle Capper.

I would suggest the plastic champagne "corks". They can be pushed in without a corker and then look like regular bottles of champagne. Just remember a wire hood is much more important because they don't expand in the bottle like real cork ones do.
