Default Will Mead get light struck?

Do I have to hide my fermenting mead from light? If there are no hops, it shouldnt get skunky, right?

It won't get "Skunky", but it could get Funky.
I have been wanting to try a side by side with one in the dark and the other exposed to see exactly what "Off Tastes" are produced from light.

You're right, the skunky smell comes from UV rays changing hop oils. Just the same, I would keep it out of direct sunlight anyways. No sense taking chances on something that could be ruined in a year when you try it the first time, eh?
