I recently brewed a batch of Pineapple Melomel (very aromatic) and an Orange-Apple Cyser, and both of the batches have these little white flakes floating on the surface of the liquid. They've both been going for about a month (I started both only a couple days apart) and these things literally sprung up over night! I did transfer the pineapple melomel to it's secondary the other day, however the cyser has been in its original carboy the whole time. I highly doubt any bacteria could live in either, 'cause both of them smell really stout. I used lalvin k1-1116 for the yeast on both and DAP as a nutrient. Any advice on what these white flakes could be? I've read it could be yeast but I couldn't see any pictures to see if that's what it looks like. If necessary I can attach an image, thanks all!!! Cheers!
I made a large reply, but being my first time, something went wrong and it's not showing up. In short, the bits may be beeswax bits (if you used raw unfiltered honey). If you used refined honey, you are on your own there, sorry.
