Sorry for newbish question, but all 10L oak barrels I am finding online (ebay and couple other places) are like $100+
I am in Boston (not exactly wine region).
Can you point me the right direction... so my pocket books does not cry? Still need to buy 22LB of honey.

Barrels are expensive. You don't NEED a barrel though, most people use oak chips/cubes/spirals to get that oaky flavour in their wine/mead/beer. Most (if not all) LHBS & online HBS carry them. But if you're dead-set on getting a barrel, more power to ya, just be prepared to spend some money for it. Regards, GF.

Wine barrels wouldn't do you much good as they are much larger (and more expensive). $100 for a 10L is about as good as it gets.

If you were to make a barrel of mead, when you were ready to drink it, would you have to bottle the rest?
