Default Is there a commonly used ratio for yeast to fluid amounts....

Leo... Are there better yeasts to use compared to others..... Wanting to make small test batches in smaller containers....lie 1 or two gallons.... Thanks guys... A beginner mead maker...

A packet of commercial wine yeast is good for about 5 gallons. You can probably scale down if you care that much. Better yeasts? Depends on what kind of mead you want to make and what ABV you're shooting for. The best thing any n00b meadmaker can do is pick up Ken Schramm's book.
