I agree with Fletch. JAOM may be a good, easy first mead recipe..but it's pretty horrible young, right out of the primary. It still needs aging to mellow..just like all meads. If you want to try this try the MAOM version instead...it is palatable right out of the primary.
I have made Joe's Grape now a couple times..and it is tasty right out of the primary. Give that one a try. Also, look for my blood orange mead recipe too, It is as quick and easy as JAOM, and has no pithy or bitter taste out of the primary either.
There are many others that taste great young on here.
