The first record I have of Clayton recommending SNA's is the Alson Kemp's notes of Clayton's presentation to the Bay Area Winemakers in March of 2002. The protocol on those notes was a 25/25/25/25% approach.
I have to agree, SNA's would be the most important change I would make if there is ever a chance at a second edition.
