Campden tabs come in various sizes/doses, ergo the issue with recipes which say '1 tab per gallon'. Just another reason I buy k-meta granules, plus my experience with Campden left white specks in my wine. Used k-meta and never had specks like I did with Campden. I just broke down and bought the granules. Splitting tablets in half or in thirds seems impractical. My package doesn't say. It says "use 1/3 a tablet when the recipe calls for 1." It's obviously been repackaged by the LHBS. I'm pitching the tabs. They are postassium based though.
